Lam

Lam

By: Vietnam

The journey of label LAM, makers of polymer clay earrings, started with being inspired by clay – a malleable, fascinating, and powerful material. One that was familiar to Vietnam, but not in the form of jewelry, making LAM pioneers in this field. The label represents traditional values through a creative and modern lens, shown through their work, for example, the porcelain collection pays homage to Vietnamese ceramic traditions. The entire production is thoughtfully carried out at their workshops with zero-waste, low-energy consumption, and safety-first policies in place.

Nuavo

Nuavo

By: South Korea

Nuavo, a homegrown South Korean jewelry label, is about finding perfection in the imperfect. The line features beautiful flaws found in natural materials such as semi-precious gemstones or pearls. Highlighting these unique patterns or interesting shapes is part of Nuavo’s tribute to nature as well as the label’s efforts to reduce wastage. Made entirely in South Korea to support the local economy, Nuavo partners with a small well-run factory to gold-plate and produce her jewelry. The factory practices high safety standards and provides good workplace conditions.

‘Brocade arts are how the ethnic groups tell their story,’ says Vũ Thị Thanh Vân, founder of TheMay, a bags and accessory line. Van incorporates intricate and distinctive pieces of brocade weaved on handlooms by the Ba Na and Chăm ethnic minorities of Vietnam. TheMay seeks the brocade directly from the communities to help provide a source of income and to preserve this ancient art. The eco leather used in TheMay’s pieces are by-products and are vegetable tanned. TheMay bags and jewelry pieces are handmade in their workshop in Saigon.
